AND WHEN I FEEL AFRAID

AND WHEN I FEEL OK,
THEN I FEEL AFRAID,
SO THEN I MAKE A CHANGE.
I ALWAYS FEEL AFRAID
SO THEN I MAKE A CHANGE.
I NEVER FEEL OKAY,
SO THEN I MAKE A CHANGE
-- THEN I AM OKAY.

You are the worst person
to have in bed at night.
When I can't sleep,
you won't be there to comfort me,
you heavy sleeper, you.
Drooling on your pillow,
you are the worst person
to have a dream about.
So when I wake up
you won't be there
to kiss or touch,
you heavy sleeper, you.
Drooling on your pillow
but you're so cute.

But so anyway,
my man is like an alpha male plus plus
a classic American stereotype winner
and he said he’s gonna get me everything all the time
everything all the time
everything all the time
everything all the time.
So, if you think you’ve got a better idea
I suggest you stop ‘cause there’s something called what goes around comes around,
and you might wanna watch who does all the coming
and going
and coming and going.
My man's a Turkish a boat captain
and he picked me up on a cruise
and I sailed away, all expenses paid, sunset-bound, from the life I knew.
“Hey does this swimsuit match my Northface?
‘cause we’re on our way to the Poles”
Though, I know with all the friction we’ll make
we won't worry about the cold:
the glaciers are breaking
and floating, then melting.
Yeah, well my man sells digital real estate
he deals in pieces of the Cloud
and once it all comes down it all its effervescent glory
and he’s chased everyone
-- I mean everyone -- out of town,
and there’s few left to hear the who, the when, the where, the why, the how,
I plan on being
very, very, very
-- obnoxiously --
very, very, very
-- irreputably --
rich.

CUDDLE COFFINS PRIME

I imagined we would swing from swings
of wood that we had built
from wreckage of the way that people lived
before we sat here dying.
I would sip my tea,
you would sip coffee in kind
staring out at the setting sun,
and there'd be hardly any clouds.
But, it is hard not to be pissed
that people just like Andrew Jackson and Christopher Columbus lived
entire lives longer than yours and mine.
But, reality does funny things
to people stuck inside day dreams:
a slap across the face
remains us of each other's fates
where we were stuck inside the place where we were
hugging coffins,
snuggling corpses.
Had I been able to find purpose
to all the sweating,
not to mention bouts of fighting off death's
imminent forgetting...
Still, among this I would make you laugh
and we believed the heat would break for never-ending shade
to last
though I began to realize
(I refuse)
if we would not enjoy this life
we would meet as skeletons,
(to let the world end)
exchanging lipless smooches
-- cuddles through eternal dirt naps.
I said, I guess that's the way it goes...
some love just starts off doomed.
(until I've lived my life with you)
You said, Oh, cut it with dramatics.
I was gonna make you puke.
I refuse to let the world end until I've lived my life with you.

JACK KEROUAC

Tell Jack Kerouac that you never needed him; that you have your own American scroll to author. Experience the United States through intranational franchises -- IHOP and 7/11, your landmarks.
Your mobile-home travel-guide in a foreign land. Your pillar of smoke in brightness and your guiding fire in darkness. Your raining manna and influx of grouse.
Find Sacagawea in corporate chains. Lewis and Clark's pregnant captive is now your dialectically-British, in-car voice. Your Scylla and Charybdis are to be a rest stop, and another rest stop.
Your return home doubled by your incompetent, bottle- and rubber-necking crew.
Your Penelope not courted, but made cold by inoccupancy, is left exactly as you had ten days prior: unmade, covered in unpacked sweaters.
You return the hero of a war that, honest-to-goodness, never happened.
You die as Patroclus every night, and wake up Paris each morning. Every afternoon you realize you are Achilles, and every evening you resolve to be Aeneas. You are actually Uriah.
Your bathing woman on the roof, a floor that betrays your waking back. You wish desperately that you could listen to King David. That you could wash your feet.
You parade on a donkey through a deserted, middle-class Jerusalem. It’s late, and you only want to go to bed --
by this you know you have true Hokma.

HOW WE'LL SEE OURSELVES
03:14
|
|
||
A WOMAN ON THE BEACH
IS TANNING TOPLESS AND FREE,
-- ASKS HER SON IF HE WOULD LIKE TO EAT
AND THEY HAVE ICE CREAM.
ALL THE BODIES ON THE BEACH
CAN BE AS THEY PLEASE,
AND THAT'S WHAT WE KNOW.
I CARE WHAT PEOPLE SEE.
I WANT TO BE ABLE TO BE
LIKE THE WOMAN ON THE BEACH.
I WANT NO HIDING.
THE WORLD CAN BE
WHAT WE DREAM.
RADICAL KINSHIP
IS HOW WE'LL SEE OURSELVES.
RADICAL KINDNESS
IS HOW WE'LL TREAT OURSELVES.
I WON'T LET GO OF YOU,
YOU WON'T LET GO OF ME.
RADICAL KINSHIP
IS HOW WE'LL BE
HOW WE'LL SEE
OURSELVES.

EVERYTHING IS OK(?)

EVERYTHING IS OKAY,
SO LONG AS:
1. EVERYTHING IS STILL FOR SALE
2. THE ALTERNATIVE IS A SHAM AND IS NOT AN ALTERNATIVE
3. THE ALTERNATIVE IS SHROUDED IN DANGER
4. THOSE WHO DON'T HAVE AREN'T PRONE TO ANGER, AND STAY THEMSELVES, UNINSPIRED
IF YOU FELT COMFORTABLE,
IF YOU FELT LIKE YOU HAD A NICE SPOT,
GET READY...
